Wearable technology is transforming healthcare, rehabilitation, sports performance, and human movement analysis. As sensors become smaller, smarter, and more connected, the next generation of wearable devices will do much more than count steps or measure heart rate, they will continuously monitor the body's physiological signals and provide real-time insights powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
At Myontec, we are proud to contribute to this future as a partner in H2TRAIN, a Horizon Europe innovation project developing next-generation wearable health technologies that combine advanced biosensors, AI, edge computing, and smart textiles.
What is the H2TRAIN Project?
H2TRAIN (Holistic Health-lifestyle motivational and assisTed supervision supported by Artificial Intelligence Networks) is a three-year Horizon Europe project funded through the CHIPS Joint Undertaking. The project brings together more than 30 research organisations, universities, SMEs, and technology companies across Europe to develop innovative digital health solutions for healthcare, rehabilitation, and sports.
The project addresses some of today's biggest challenges in wearable health technology:
Continuous monitoring of new physiological signals
Higher sensor accuracy and reliability
Longer battery life and energy-efficient wearables
AI-powered health and performance analytics
Secure management of personal health data
Comfortable textile-integrated wearable sensors
The ultimate goal is to make wearable health monitoring more intelligent, accurate, and practical for everyday use.
Why Wearable EMG Matters
Among all physiological measurements, electromyography (EMG) provides unique insights into how muscles work during movement. Unlike activity trackers that estimate exercise intensity from motion alone, wearable EMG directly measures muscle activation.
This information is valuable for:
Sports performance optimization
Muscle fatigue and problem detection analysis
Faster rehabilitation after injury
Clinical movement assessment
Workplace ergonomics
Human performance research
For more than a decade, Myontec has been one of pioneers in wearable EMG technology globally, developing textile-integrated sensors that allow comfortable and reliable muscle activity monitoring outside laboratory environments. Our solutions have been used by researchers, elite athletes, physiotherapists, sports scientists, and healthcare professionals around the world.
Myontec's Role in H2TRAIN
Within H2TRAIN, Myontec contributes its expertise in wearable electromyography, smart textile integration, and human movement monitoring.
The project is developing a complete ecosystem of wearable technologies, including sensors capable of measuring:
EMG (muscle activity)
ECG (heart activity)
Blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
Saturated muscle oxygen (SmO2)
Glucose
Sweat biomarkers
Cortisol
Lactate
C-reactive protein
Physical activity and posture
By combining multiple physiological signals, researchers can obtain a much more comprehensive understanding of health, exercise, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
For Myontec, wearable EMG represents an important part of this multimodal sensing approach. Muscle activity data complements cardiovascular, metabolic, and biochemical measurements, enabling AI systems to generate more meaningful and personalized feedback.

Artificial Intelligence Makes Wearables Smarter
Collecting physiological data is only the first step. The real innovation comes from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and edge computing, which allow wearable devices to analyse data in real time without relying entirely on cloud services.
Instead of simply displaying raw sensor values, future wearable systems can:
Detect and alert abnormal physiological changes
Monitor training load, intensity and recovery
Personalize exercise recommendations
Support rehabilitation programs
Help clinicians make better decisions
Improve long-term health monitoring
H2TRAIN combines advanced biosensors with AI algorithms, secure connectivity, and edge-cloud computing to create intelligent wearable systems that are both powerful and energy efficient.
From Elite Sports to Healthcare
One of the strengths of H2TRAIN is that its technologies are being developed for real-world applications. The project focuses on three major use cases.
Intelligent Sports Coaching
Athletes, coaches, and sports scientists can use wearable sensors and AI-powered analytics to optimize training, monitor muscle fatigue, reduce injury risk, and improve recovery.

Remote Assisted Living
Continuous health monitoring can support older adults and people living with chronic conditions while allowing healthcare professionals to remotely monitor wellbeing.
Clinical Monitoring and Rehabilitation
Patients recovering from surgery, cardiac disease, diabetes, or musculoskeletal injuries can benefit from continuous physiological monitoring that supports personalized rehabilitation and evidence-based clinical decisions.

Driving the Future of Wearable Health Technology
The wearable technology market continues to grow rapidly, but future devices must become more accurate, more comfortable, and more intelligent. Projects like H2TRAIN accelerate this development by bringing together experts in biosensors, smart textiles, semiconductor technologies, AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, and sports science.
For Myontec, participating in H2TRAIN is a natural continuation of our mission to develop innovative wearable EMG solutions that improve human performance, rehabilitation, and health monitoring. By collaborating with leading European partners, we are helping shape the next generation of AI-powered wearable devices that deliver actionable insights—not just data.
Looking Ahead
The H2TRAIN project runs until Autum 2027, and we look forward to sharing new developments, research results, and technology demonstrations as the project progresses.
At Myontec, we believe the future of digital health lies in intelligent wearable technologies that combine accurate sensing, AI-driven analysis, and comfortable textile integration. Together with our H2TRAIN partners, we are working to make that future a reality.
